Although Seanchai & the Unity Squad is Dublin-born Rachel Fitzgerald's first official band, she has shared the stage with such talents as Shane MacGowan and the Popes, Mary Courtney, and Karen Casey. Her hauntingly beautiful voice and wide range of vocal styles -- from traditional Irish chantruse to belting it out ala Aretha Franklin -- should carry her far.
Her musical influences are eclectic -- spanning Motown, Traditional Irish African and Indian Music, R & B, and Hip-Hop -- that you end up asking what she doesn't like. The answer there would be Pop and Metal, before politely conceding that everyone has different tastes. What brings Rachel joy in life? Cooking, painting, a good row, hanging out and sleeping.
